Ingredients to make an Hard Boiled Egg
Eggs: Use room temperature eggs that are a week old. When they are a week old they are easier to peel.
How to Boil an Egg
Boiling egg: Bring a pot of water to a running boil, enough to cover your eggs. Add your eggs into the boiling water. Bring the water to a simmer or light boil for 12 minutes.
Shocking egg: Shock your eggs into an ice water bath right away, to stop the egg from cooking. Allow to stand for a couple of minutes.
Peeling the egg from its shell: Crack your egg a couple times and peel under cold running water. Rinse and dry egg.
What is an ice water bath?
Equal parts cold water and ice.
Hard boiled Egg
- Bring a pot of water to a running boil, enough to cover the eggs. Add your eggs to the boiling water, bring your water down to a light boil or simmer and cook for 12 minutes.
- Shock your eggs in an ice water bath. Crack your egg or and peel under running cold water. Rinse and dry egg.
